Summer Looks Good on BFC

August 2026

What a wonderful summer it has been so far!

Steve and I have truly enjoyed getting to know all our seasonal campers better and watching everyone settle so comfortably into campground life. It has been especially lovely seeing each site take on its own personality and become a true second home—a place to relax, gather with friends, enjoy the river and make the most of summer.

There has been plenty happening around BFC, but some of our favourite moments have been the simple ones: stopping to chat, seeing neighbours helping neighbours and watching our little campground community grow closer as the season goes on.

August is shaping up to be another fun-filled month, with Bingo, Paint Night, our groovy ’70s potluck and plenty of time left to enjoy summer around the campfire!

✨ What’s Up at BFC?✨

PAINT NIGHT WITH HAPPYMESS WITH MISSY

Saturday, August 22 at 6:30 PM

For our August Paint Night, we’re getting back to keeping things simple: a classic canvas, a relaxed evening under the event tent and a bright Maritime painting that feels perfectly suited to summer at BFC.

Missy from HappyMess will guide everyone step by step through this cheerful lobster-and-flowers design. No painting experience is needed, and all supplies are included.

You’ll head home with your own finished 11-by-14-inch canvas—whether it turns out frame-worthy or simply provides a very entertaining story.

Date: Saturday, August 22
Time: 6:30 PM
Location: BFC event tent
Cost: $45 per person
Canvas size: 11 × 14 inches

Registration is appreciated so Missy can arrive prepared with enough supplies for everyone.

Campers are also absolutely welcome to bring their own drinks and snacks and settle in for a fun, easygoing evening of painting and visiting.

The finished painting is shown below so you know exactly what we’ll be creating.

To register, email us at: bfcbridgetown@gmail.com.

The Machines Are Coming!

We know many of you have been patiently waiting for the arrival of our new ice cream equipment—and we are very excited to say that the machines are officially coming!

The good news is: they really are coming. The slightly less exciting news is that we still do not have an installation date.

At the moment, we are waiting to hear when the installation team can fit us into their schedule. We are hoping that will be sooner rather than later, because patience is lovely in theory but far less impressive when ice cream is involved.

As soon as we have a confirmed date, we will share it. Until then, the shop is still serving all your hard-ice-cream favourites while we wait for the soft-serve era to finally begin.

Stay tuned. We are one installation date away from finally entering our soft-serve era.

GET GROOVY AT OUR ’70s POTLUCK

Saturday, August 15 at 5:00 PM

Break out the bell-bottoms, dust off the tie-dye and prepare for a delightfully delectable trip back to the 1970s!

On August 15th, BFC will host a ’70s-themed potluck which will include vintage-inspired dishes, groovy music, costumes, prizes and groovy lawn-game.

We will be awarding prizes for:

  • Best ’70s costume

  • Best ’70s-inspired dish

Guests are encouraged to bring a dish inspired by the decade—whether it is genuinely delicious, wonderfully nostalgic or held together by gelatin and blind optimism.

Date: Saturday, August 15
Time: 5:00 PM
Location: BFC Event Tent, Campground Common-Area

More details will be shared in the Campfire Crew group as the event approaches.

LOOKING AHEAD TO THE 2027 SEASON

2027 Retianers

We are certainly not trying to rush summer along—there is still plenty of camping season left to enjoy!

However, a few campers have already begun asking how they can secure their seasonal site for next year.

Beginning October 1, current seasonal campers will have the opportunity to reserve their site for the 2027 season with a $500 non-refundable retainer. The full amount of the retainer will be applied toward the remaining seasonal balance due in the spring.

More information, including payment details and important dates, will be shared closer to October. For now, there is nothing you need to do except continue enjoying your site and the summer ahead.

Power Metering

As part of our ongoing efforts to manage rising operating costs we will be introducing individual power metering for seasonal sites beginning with the 2027 camping season.

Meters will be installed throughout the remainder of this season. There will be no electricity charges based on these readings during the 2026 season. This monitoring period is to allow us to test the equipment, understand usage patterns and establish an accurate reading and billing process before the new system takes effect.

Beginning in 2027, electricity used at each seasonal site will be metered and billed separately from the seasonal site fee. The exact rate structure, billing process and any associated fees are still being determined.

We wanted to share this update early and keep everyone informed as the new system is developed. Complete details will be provided before seasonal agreements are issued for the 2027 season.

But enough about that...

Thank you to everyone who participated in our July scavenger hunt!

Campfire Celebrations 🥳

We have a few celebration going on this month!

Happy Anniversary on August 2nd to Eugene and Marilyn Bartlett at site #22

Happy Birthdays

Eugene Bartlett on August 26th

Anne -Marie Fitzgibbons on August 31st

Hope you both have a fantastic day celebrating you!!

Until Next Time

August may be the final full month of summer, but we are nowhere near finished yet.

There are still campfires to light, games to play, dishes to sample, prizes to win and plenty of warm evenings left to enjoy together. Thank you for continuing to make BFC such a friendly, lively and welcoming place.

We are so happy to have each of you here and look forward to another memorable month around the campground.

Here’s to making the most of every last bit of summer!

More Soon,

-Jennifer and Steve

A Quieter July, with Plenty to Look Forward To

July 2026

July has arrived, and summer is in full swing around the campground—campfires crackling, neighbours stopping for a chat, kids and dogs making their rounds, and everyone settling into the little community growing around us.

We’re also very happy to report that construction on our gazebo is finally complete! As many of you know, finding someone who is both available and willing to do a job properly can be a challenge around here, so this one took a little more patience than expected. Thankfully, it was worth the wait, and we’re excited to see the space finally finished and ready to enjoy.

This month is a little quieter as far as events go, but don’t worry—we promise what’s coming next will be worth the wait. We’re using the extra breathing room to plan, prepare and put a little more into the next round of campground fun.

In the meantime, it has been especially nice to enjoy the peaceful atmosphere around the park. There is something to be said for a place where people can relax, enjoy their site, spend time with good neighbours and simply let the campground feel easy.

Our little community continues to blossom, and we’re grateful for the warmth, laughter and positive energy so many of you bring to it.

✨ What’s Up at BFC?✨

Happy Canada Day!! 🇨🇦

We don’t have an official Canada Day event planned this year, but we would still love to see a little campground patriotism! Fly your flags, wear your red and white, decorate your site—or simply take a moment to appreciate this beautiful country of ours for the whole month of July.

Canada could use a little extra love these days, so let’s give her some. ❤️🤍❤️

Paint Night — 18 July at 6:30

We’re changing things up for our next painting event! This time, we’ll be trading traditional canvases for canvas tote bags—so you can create something beautiful and actually use it afterward.

HappyMess with Missy is putting her skills to great use creating a custom design just for our campground, and this time we’ll be painting it on canvas tote bags instead of traditional canvases!

We won’t spoil the surprise just yet, but let’s just say the design will feel very familiar to anyone who knows and loves BFC.

Whether you’re a confident painter, a careful follower or someone who simply enjoys seeing where the brush takes you, this will be a fun and relaxed evening with plenty of laughs around the table. All supplies will be provided, and no experience is needed—just bring yourself, your creativity, and maybe a beverage of choice.

Best of all, you’ll leave with something creative, useful and completely unique!

One BIG Bingo Night!!

After looking at the upcoming weekends, we’ve decided to cancel the rescheduled BINGO planned for Saturday, July 4 and put all our energy—and a few extra big prizes—into one unforgettable event instead!

Many of our seasonal campers will be away next weekend, while the campground is completely booked for the final weekend of July.

Rather than hold two smaller events, we’re combining everything into one BIG BFC BINGO Night on Saturday, August 1.

We’ll be adding more prizes, including a few bigger ones, and making this one a proper campground event worth waiting for.

So, save the date, bring your lucky charms and prepare for a bit of friendly competition. This one is going to be a banger! 😉

More details will be shared in the Campfire Crew Facebook group as the event gets closer.

Waste Sorting Made Easier ♻️

We’ve been working away behind the scenes to make our garbage and recycling area easier and more intuitive for everyone to use.

The former “brown bins” have received a fresh coat of paint, and the lids have been clearly relabelled to help take the guesswork out of sorting your waste.

Here’s where everything goes:

1. Paper and cardboard
Place clean paper and cardboard in the first compartment.

2 & 3. Plastic, glass and tin
Clean recyclable plastic, glass and tin can be placed in the next two compartments.

4. Refundable bottles and cans
Refundable glass bottles go in the BOTTLES side, while refundable aluminum cans go in the CANS side. Dairy containers are NOT REFUNDABLE. They go inthe plastic/tin/glass compartment.

The large green bin will continue to be used for regular household garbage, and the organics area remains the same.

Please remember:

  • All waste must be properly bagged and placed in the correct bin.

  • Recycling must be empty and clean.

  • Please do not place wine bottles in the black milk crate.

  • The black milk crate is reserved for small, non-refillable propane cylinders—the little green camping bottles.

Easy, right? We’ll also created a Waste Sorting Album in the Campfire Crew Facebook group for quick reference whenever you need it and for those of you not on the Campfire Crew Facebook page, we have printed copies for your convenience.

A Quick but Important Waste Reminder

We’ve put a great deal of effort into making the waste area clearer and easier to use, but we are still finding garbage, recycling and refundables placed in the wrong bins.

Please take the extra moment to sort your waste properly. Recycling must be clean, items must be placed in the correct compartment, and regular garbage must not be mixed in with recycling or refundables.

When one bag is sorted incorrectly, it can contaminate an entire bin and create a significant amount of extra work.

Going forward, improperly sorted waste may be refused or returned to the camper responsible. Continued misuse of the waste area may result in campers being asked to remove and dispose of their own garbage and recycling off-site.

We appreciate everyone who is already taking the time to sort properly and help keep the campground clean and organized.

Now, for the fun stuff........

🔥 The Campfire Question Is Going on an Adventure! 🔥

This month, we’re giving our regular Campfire Question a little shake-up and turning it into a Campfire Quest!

Instead of answering just one question, campers will be invited to complete a short and simple scavenger hunt around the campground. There will be a handful of easy clues, observations and campground trivia questions to solve at your own pace.

No Facebook account or advanced detective training is required. Quest sheets will be available at the campground office, and completed entries can be placed in the Key Fob Return Box on the front door of the office before the end of the month deadline.

Everyone who participates will receive one leaderboard point, plus an additional point for completing the quest correctly.

Keep your eyes open, look closely and prepare to discover whether you truly know your campground—or whether you’ve just been walking past everything all summer. 😉

Full instructions and your first Campfire Quest sheet will be available soon!

A reminder of what you’re playing for:

🥇 Grand Prize
$200 Pre-paid VISA Gift Card

🥈 Second Prize

June’s Campfire Question Answer 🍦

Last month, we asked:

How many litres of ice cream do you think we would scoop during the month of June?

But here’s the thing—we may have been a little generous with this one. June’s question was meant to give everyone a chance to catch up on the leaderboard, so if you submitted a guess…

You get a point! You get a point! Everybody gets a point! 🎉

Thanks to everyone who joined in—and congratulations on your completely legitimate, definitely not handed-to-you leaderboard point. 😉

Campfire Celebrations 🥳

We have just one birthday on file for July:

Happy Birthday to Jason McCarthy on July 17! 🎂

We hope you have a fantastic day and get properly spoiled.

If we’ve missed any July birthdays or anniversaries along the way, feel free to give them a shout-out in the Campfire Crew Facebook group so we can celebrate with you!

Until Next Time

That’s a wrap on July’s campground news!

This month may be a little quieter on the events calendar, but there is still plenty happening around BFC—and even more being planned behind the scenes. We hope you take the time to enjoy the campground, connect with your neighbours, make use of the new gazebo and soak up some peaceful summer days.

As always, thank you for helping make this place feel welcoming, friendly and easy to enjoy. We truly appreciate the care, humour and community spirit so many of you bring to the campground.

Here’s to warm evenings, good company and a few memorable summer moments along the way.

See you around the campfire!

More Soon,

-Jennifer and Steve

Settling In & Scooping Up Summer

June 2026

What a wonderful start to the season it has been! Steve and I have truly loved seeing everyone settle in, get comfortable, and bring the campground back to life again. There is something pretty special about seeing familiar faces, trailers opening up, campfires going, and the season slowly finding its rhythm.

We have some fun activities planned this month, and we’re really looking forward to seeing everyone out and about.

✨ What’s Up at BFC?

Paint Night — 13 June

We’re officially kicking off campground Paint Nights! Throughout the season, we have several events planned, and we’re excited to welcome Happymess with Missy to the campground.

Missy will be bringing pre-traced canvases for those who like a little guidance, with the option to freehand for anyone feeling extra brave. Her “do what feels good to you” approach, paired with her artistic know-how, makes for a relaxed, creative, and very fun evening.

Spots will be limited, but our lucky seasonals will get first dibs before the event is opened to the public on June 6th.

Paint Night will be held here at the campground on June 13, so you won’t have to go far if the drinks run dry… not that we expect that to happen.  ;)

Sign-up details will be available on our Campfire Crew Facebook page.

Whether you’re in it for the art, the laughs, or both, it’s shaping up to be a great addition to the season.

Campers Bingo

Not just any bingo… Campers Bingo!

Bust out your daubers, lucky charms, and best bingo energy for our first Campers Bingo event. Join us on June 27 at 7:00 PM for a fun evening of bingo, laughs, and prizes.

We’ll be playing 6 games, with cards available for $2 each, with over $300 in prizes to be won!

Keep an eye out for the official poster on the Campfire Crew Facebook page as we approach the date. As usual, our seasonals will get first dibs on available spots and game sheets.

Whether you’re a seasoned bingo pro or just in it for the fun, we can’t wait to see you there!

Ice Cream Shop

The shop is officially opening on June 6 — and we have a few exciting enhancements planned for this year.

Only tiny catch… they haven’t arrived yet.

We were trying to keep it all a surprise, but we are officially bursting at the seams! Once everything makes its way here, we’ll be introducing three new machines for your delicious delight: a soft-serve machine for all our soft-serve lovers with the option of flavor enhancers, a slushie machine to keep you cool and refreshed, and our very own “Blizzard-style” machine, which we’ll be calling our Trail Blazers. Oh yeah, thats right.

We can’t wait to share all the sweet ideas we have in store for you this season.

For now, we’ll be opening with our faithful favourite hard ice cream flavours, and maybe even a few sweet surprises along the way…

Propane

Ah yes, the question we’re all wondering about: when will we start serving propane?

We are still chipping away at the paperwork and official red tape required to get our propane tank up and running.

While we can’t give an official date just yet, we can tell you this: we are THISCLOSE.

As soon as we have the final go-ahead, we’ll be sure to let everyone know. Trust us, no one is more excited than we are to get this service rolling!

🔥 Campfire Question 🔥

Last month we introduced our Campfire Question. This month we will reveal the leaderboard and let you in on what your prizes are going to be!

Here’s what you’re playing for:

🥈 Second Prize
$100  Esso Gas Card

🥉 Third Prize
$50 Home Depot

How it works:

Campfire Question — Answer & New Challenge

May’s answer:
If you’re driving 10 km/hr for 5 minutes (in either direction), you’ve travelled 0.83 km!

Easy-peasy, right?

Congrats to those of you who submitted the correct answer! Remember, you don't have to get it right to get a point, so give any question your best shot!

Now for June’s Campfire Question:

How many litres of ice cream do you think we’ll scoop at the shop during the month of June?

Take your best guess!

Closest answer wins the point — no math required, just your best campground gut feeling.

🎉 Campfire Celebrations

The only birthday around here this month appears to be Steve’s on June 26!

However, love is definitely in the air, with three happy couples celebrating anniversaries this month.

Today, June 1, John and Ann-Marie at Site #25 are celebrating their anniversary.

On June 17th Jason and Joanne at Site #32 celebrate their anniversary and last but certainly not least, Brian and Geri at Site #30 are celebrating many happy years together on June 21st.

Wishing all of our June celebrators a wonderful month filled with love, laughter, and maybe a little extra cake!

We’re so happy to have the season underway and to see the campground filling with familiar faces, laughter, campfires, and all the little touches that make each site feel like home.

June is shaping up to be a fun month, and we’re looking forward to sharing more events, treats, updates, and good old campground moments with you.

As always, thank you for being part of our BFC community. We’re grateful to have you here, and we can’t wait to see what this season brings.

So pull up a chair, settle in, and we’ll see you around the campground!

More Soon,

-Jennifer and Steve

And Just Like That — May is Here!

May 2026

Opening Day is May 15th, and we're ready - Even moreso than last year! 😉

This also marks one full year since Steve and I became the new owners of Bridgetown Family Camping. It’s been a year of learning, improving, and building relationships. Whether you’ve been with us since last season or you’re joining us for the first time, we’re so glad you’re here.

We’re incredibly proud of what this little campground is becoming — and even more grateful for the people who are part of it.

Arrival Week

We’re looking forward to a relaxed, welcoming opening weekend — fires, friendly faces, and getting back into campground life. Since opening day falls on the May long weekend this year, we’d love to help everyone ease into the season. We’re inviting seasonal campers to begin arriving between May 10th –15th, giving you time to get settled before the bustle of opening weekend.

Please send us a quick email or give us a call if you plan to arrive before the 15th, and Steve or I will make sure we’re available.

Seasonal Terms & Conditions

As mentioned in April, we’ve put together a simple Seasonal Terms & Conditions to help keep the campground running smoothly and looking its best for everyone.

Please take a moment to review and complete this before arrival:

BFC Seasonal Camper Terms And Conditions

It only takes a minute and helps us start the season off on the right foot.

✨ What’s Up at BFC?

Here’s a look at what’s new and evolving around the campground this season:

Site Refresh
You’ll notice we’ve spent time grooming and refreshing sites across the campground to start the season off right— and we want everyone arriving to feel good about where they’re settling in.

Washroom & Laundry Update
We’ve recently completed leveling work on the washroom and laundry building — one of those behind-the-scenes improvements that makes a big difference in day-to-day use. Next big step? A fresh new look!

New Garbage Location
We’ve relocated our garbage system this year. For your convenience, we have moved the garbage bins over to sit by the Ice Cream Shop building. The same sorting rules will apply. Clear instructions and reminders will be provided — thank you in advance for working with us as we implement it.

New Rental Trailers
We’ve added two rental trailers to the campground this season. It’s a great option for visiting friends or family who want to stay close without needing their own setup.

🔥 Campfire Question 🔥

We’re kicking off something new this season — a little fun around the campground.

Each month, we’ll share a Campfire Question. You'll earn 1 point for participating and 1 point for the right answer.

Submit your answer to earn points and start climbing the leaderboard (yes… there will be prizes 👀)

We’ll officially launch the leaderboard in June, but you can start earning points now!

This Month’s Question

If you’re driving a very responsible speed of 10 km/hr around Bridgetown Family Camping for 5 minutes… how far have you travelled?

Easy, right? 😏

Submit your answer here: Step Aside, I Got This 🔥

We’ll share the answer — and reveal the leaderboard — in June.

(Answers submitted while speeding or going in the wrong direction may be gently scrutinized… 😉)

🎉 Campfire Celebrations

We have a couple Birthdays this month!

Be sure to honk and wave as you pass Brian (May 8th) and Geri ( May 22nd) Smith at  Site # 31 who are both celebrating Birthdays this month!

Brian especially likes to be fussed over, right Brian? 😉

It won’t be long before the coffee’s on, the chairs are out, and the campground starts to hum again. We’re excited to see it all come together—and even more excited to see everyone back where they belong.

Pull up a chair, settle in, and enjoy the start of another season with us. We’re really looking forward to having you back.

More soon,
— Jennifer & Steve

First Edition — Test, test… is this thing on?

April 2026

Test… test…
Oh good. You’re still here 😄

This is it — our very first Around the Campfire newsletter 🔥

Around the Campfire is meant to be a place for our seasonal campers — a spot to share what’s happening around the campground, pass along a few updates, and most importantly, keep that sense of community going year-round.

As the days start stretching out and spring quietly creeps in, we can feel that familiar almost camping-time energy building. We’ve been puttering around behind the scenes and getting ready for the season ahead, and a few fun things are shaping up:

Propane— We will be offering propane services! Fewer errands, more time to relax. More details to follow.

Rentals — From canoes to games, hammocks and fire pits, we hope to have all of your comfort needs at your fingertips.

Ice cream shop upgrades — We’re keeping this one a little mysterious for now… but trust us, summer just got sweeter!

🎉 Campfire Celebrations

We’re kicking things off with a couple of birthdays in the BFC community:

🎂 March 30 — Susan Baker😉

🎂 April 11 - James Pownall

🎂 April 12 — Joanne McCarthy

Wishing you all a very Happy Birthday from all of us at Bridgetown Family Camping 🎈

(If we got March 30 wrong, we promise to make it up to you when you arrive! 😄)

(If you’d like your birthday or anniversary included in future newsletters, we’d love to celebrate with you — just let us know.)

Looking Ahead to Arrival Season

We know everyone is eager to get back, and we’re just as excited to have you here.

At the moment, the ground is still soft, so it’s early to tell when we can begin to welcome you back just yet.

Our goal is to begin coordinating arrivals between May 10th–15th, giving everyone a chance to get settled in before the hustle of opening weekend.

We’ll keep a close eye on conditions and share updates as things firm up — more details will be included in the May newsletter.

Seasonal Updates

This season, we’ll be introducing a Seasonal Terms & Conditions agreement.

This will outline a few important things to help keep the campground looking its best and running smoothly, including:
• General site and trailer upkeep expectations
• Updated processes

Our goal is simple — to protect the space we’re all proud of and make sure everyone has the best possible experience here.

This will be available digitally to review and sign, with printed copies available if needed. We’ll share full details soon.

What to Expect from Around the Campfire

Going forward, this space will be used for:

• Camper shout-outs and celebrations
• Early access to upcoming events
• Photos, stories, and maybe even a few games or fun surprises along the way 😉

Pull up a chair when you feel like it and stay awhile!

For now, consider this our first wave from the campfire — we’re here, we’re getting excited, and we’re really looking forward to the 2026 season.

More soon,

— Jennifer & Steve
